Changing Gears

uranusnews1So we’re done with the X series for a while. Put it in it’s little box and shove it in the closet. The next arc, Daydreams and Nightmares, needs major tweaking anyway. The smart move would be to practice drawing Gate. pfft. Who am I kidding, I’m not going to do that.

106 comics. Christ on a cracker; what was I thinking? Feel free to critique. There were some good visuals, but there were also times where I just farked the whole thing to heck.

To recap what’s happened so far… X and Zero finished a mission only for Zero to find out that X has inexplicably chibied. Alia runs tests on the little yipper, but the only thing she finds out is that the two have feelings for each other. Sigma shows up (for no real reason) and Zero plays a game of racquetball with X to defeat the villain. After defeating Sigma, X is returned to normal (although the two are not necessarily related).

Some time later…feeling a bit guilty over his past stupidity, Zero tries to force X and Alia to admit their feelings by locking the two in a closet. This backfires and X uses the Ultimate Armor to escape. Zero finds X moping under a willow tree and Zero makes the horrible mistake of giving X the chance to pontificate. Alia gets kidnapped and MHQ gets a ransom note from a virally (?) controlled Dynamo. X rushes off to do the pissed off hero thing only to find that that it’s a trap laid by Return X. Zero (eventually) catches up to X, only to find the hunter (in his Ultimate Armor) being possessed by Return X.

Return X and Zero duke it out while X wanders, lost in his own mind. Zero manages to convince Dynamo to get Alia to safety. Dynamo forgets he’s a pervert for five seconds but remembers just in time to oggle some can. Lifesaver proves he’s an ever-loving badass and Alia revives just in time to provide two pages full of (debatably) useful exposition. More fighting and posturing. Meanwhile, X battles his own conscience and comes to the conclusion that fighting is only acceptable when it is to saves lives. X regains control of his senses and he and Alia gather up a crusty piece of slag that has a passing resemblance to Zero. Return X splits away from X and the two and the true nature of Return X is revealed as the two fight. X admits to murderous life but refuses to give into his own hate. Realizing that he cannot destroy something that is a part of him, he reabsorbs Return X and seals him away–unlocking the X-Fire Armor in the process. Zero is repaired, Alia gets a notice saying Gate’s body is due for demolition, and X and Alia meet up to sort things out. Meanwhile, Dynamo is back at base, sulking, when he is visited by Gate. Gate offers the mercenary a job of questionable safety and Dynamo (too busy drooling over the payment) takes it. Before Dynamo can finish mouthing off, Gate mysteriously disappears…

X needs a T-shirt that reads “I went through Hell and all I got was this crappy armor.”

mercurynews As you might have guessed, the new site has taken longer to get going than originally planned but I will post a new comic as soon as it is ready.  In the mean time, feel free to browse around. The archive actually works now and all of the older comics have been re-scanned so that they are much crisper. Some of the dialogue on the very early pieces is a little hard to read, I know. This will be fixed in a bit. Right now I didn’t want to fall too far behind on the current comic.

If you run into any problems, let me know!

Maintenance

–  The site is now up and running. There should be an actual comic next week. From here on out if it turns out I don’t have time to finish a full-blown comic, then some filler will be put up instead. Either way, the site will always update on Sunday.
